In September 2019, Ms Selina Ntebo approached Mankwe GAMETRACKERS on behalf of the Mosia family – Ms Margrette (65) and son, Kenny (40). Both mother and son are unemployed, unregistered (no form of identification) and Kenny has a chronic illness.
We visited the family and discovered that the conditions were totally unbearable they lived in a one room shack that was not even enough to protect them from the elements and they slept on the floor even though they are both sickly and Kenney disabled.
They had no source of income although both were eligible for government grants. They therefore had to depend on their neighbors especially Ms Ntebo and the community at large for their next meal, the cleaning of their house, lights and everything else. We decided to take on the task of building them a two bedroom house.
The house was officially handed over to the family on the 17th of January 2020 when the community, ward councillor and many others came to share in the celebration of the Mosia family receiving their new home.
A big thank-you to Sun City, Spar, Engen Garage and Kwa Maritane for donating food and other items to help make the Mosias’ new house feel like a home. The Meyer of Moses Kotane Local Municipality was also present he pledged to ensure that the family is registered in order for them to receive government grants and sort out their electricity.
